THE EIGHTH WONDER IN EL SALVADOR

COATEPEQUE LAKE

ONE OF THE MOST BEUTIFULL PLACE OF EL SALVADOR

VIEW OF COATEPEQUE LAKE FROM SANTA ANA VOLCANO
Hello everyone!, my name is Estefany Hernández  and I have been working as tour guide for EC Tours el salvador for the past 2 years and today I want to share with all of you the experience that I had this week!

August 2018, very special date to visit Santa Ana volcano, not the first time going there but my 89th so far, this one time a very special one , always hiking with EC Tours costumers that I do prefer to call our new friends.

We have arrived to the national park Cerro verde and awaiting for the time to start to hike, joining the group of adventurous people that will just experience the best 4 hour hike ever.

It takes 2 hours to reach the top of the Santa Ana volcano, but on our way , we enjoy the beaty of nature surrounding it.

Once reaching the top, Santa Ana volcano shows to  its visitors its unique treasure, a  jade color sulphuric lagoon in Santa Ana's crater, and once turning around we also see the Cerro verde park from where we started to hike and Izalco volcano, even the Pacific Ocean!
And of course Coatepeque lake beside us.

This time coatepeque has welcomed us with an amazing gift, a beautiful turquoise color decorating the lake , its been the 5th year consecutive happening and the view can't be better!

The change of the color in the water of Coatepeque has been meticulously studied to find out what causes this event, the strongest theory so far has been that since the Coatepeque lake is volcanic background and it is also connected to the activity of Santa Ana's volcano which is one of the most active volcanoes in El Salvador.
Causes some series of small inner eruptions, setting free volcanic minerals all over the lake turning the water from blue to turquoise for a couple days or even a whole week!

How lucky we are the ones that had the chance to hike Santa Ana this week, how amazing pictures we've got as well.

Being up at the crater or Santa Ana, with this amazing view, instantly disconnects me from the outside world , feeling such inner peace and enjoying the fresh air runing all over around, makes me think about how rich this country is, how proud I am of calling this land my home, and most important, how lucky I am of being here and show people around and calling this my job!
